FAQs About Our Upcoming Lincoln-Eliot Fun Run!

We are very excited for the Lincoln-Eliot Fun Run coming up on Monday, May 13th!  As you hopefully saw in the email from the school this week, our goals are 5 pledges per student and $8,000 total to be raised for our kids, which will go to fund Creative Arts and Sciences programs, technology updates, library books, and more.

Please register your children and enter your pledges on funrun.com, then share your page with your family and friends!

This is a brand-new event for us, so we know everyone has a lot of questions!  In an attempt to answer at least a few of them, here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) with answers from the Boosterthon Fun Run program:

Q: Will there be practice running for our kids in these next few weeks leading up to the event?  I saw that the kids will be running about 30 laps!

A: Students will be well informed about the fun run event each day during the program.  However, there is not necessarily planned “practice for them”.  The Fun Run is NOT a race, this is a key distinction.

Q: Will they have warm ups/cool down at the event?  Who’s overseeing the running to make sure the kids are doing it safely and that all kids of all abilities can participate?

A: At the Fun Run, safety is our #1 priority.  There are built-in walking laps to our soundtrack.  Boosterthon Program Director Jason “Jumpman J” will be on the microphone leading the event with the help of our team.  They are professionals, this is their full time job, and they do stellar work at leading Fun Runs at elementary schools all across New England on a regular basis.

Q: What about kids who don’t want to participate?

A: All students are invited to participate, but none of them have to.  If a student really does not want to participate in the running, dancing, skipping, hopping, etc. (each lap in the Fun Run has it’s own theme so it is not just students running), they are welcome to cheer on their classmates!

Q: What time is this happening?  How long?

A: The Fun Run is during school hours.

Q: Will there be activities to motivate students during the Fun Run?  Theme laps, obstacles or something?  Are they running in teams?

A: There are no obstacles during the Fun Run.  Students are running with their classrooms & grades on a track set up by the Booster team, led by our Program Director.

Q: Are people pledging per lap?

A: Parents, families, friends, relatives, local business owners, etc. can pledge on a per-lap basis OR as a flat donation.

We hope that helps, and we’ll keep you posted with more information as we receive it!
