Welcome to new members of the PTO and vote for council members…

Six Disney Songs For Your Summer Playlist - Disney Dining

This is our final newsletter of the academic year. We want to start by saying THANK YOU to all the members of our community who stepped in and volunteered to make all of our recent community events a success. It was beautiful to see our community together and none of it would have been possible without you.

Second, we want to extend the warmest welcome to the newest members of our PTO board: Fabiola Washburn and Molly Richter. Thank you!

Finally, please take a moment to vote for our school site council nominees. Simply click on this link and follow the prompts!

We wish all the families in our community a wonderful summer full of fun and growth.

Sincerely,

Your LE PTO.

FUN RUN – May 29th

It’s time for the annual Fun Run! This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, May 29th during school hours. The Fun Run is Lincoln-Eliot’s most important fundraiser. Why? Because the funds raised are used by the PTO to support enriching and educational programming for the students that would not be possible otherwise. These programs include classroom visits by local artists and scientists, field trips, and teacher appreciation.

We’re hoping to match the success of last year’s event and raise $15,000. The money raised goes directly back into supporting the students of Lincoln-Eliot.

First step is to Register with Fund Hub. Donations can be made right there online or via cash or check (made payable to “Lincoln-Eliot PTO”), and sent to school with your child in an envelope labeled “PTO”.

We also have a goal of 100% registration! Each classroom that has at least 75% percent registered will receive a classroom dance party.

Our grand prize of a popsicle party will be awarded to the classroom that contributes the highest percentage to our goal.

Help your child(ren)’s classroom win a prize by registering and sharing with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your support!

One more week to sign up to the Science Fair!

We are gearing up for Family Science Night on May 2nd from 5-7pm. This event will take place in the Lincoln-Eliot gym and is open to all students. This is a wonderful LE tradition.

Students are invited to create a science project and present it to family, friends, and teachers on Science Night. Note: School time is not provided for this project. It is to be completed on your own time. Here are some potential ideas .

We welcome projects at all levels and abilities! Feel free to work in teams! And if your student is not doing a project, please come and participate in the activities/workshops prepared by other students.

So that we can get accurate counts for the set up, please complete the form by April 31 (one form per student).

Please volunteer for the PTO for the next academic year

We have several PTO positions that we need to fill, including two board positions:

Co-President (will work closely with Theresa throughout the year)

Co-Treasurer (will be transitioned from current Treasurer, Julie)

We are also seeking volunteers for roles that have gone unfilled this year:

FORJ (Families Organizing for Racial Justice) Liaison.

This is a medium intensity position (1-2 meetings per month). The Liaison organizes FORJ meetings, oversees sub-committees’ progress, attends School FORJ events, supports subcommittees when needed, informs PTO President/Secretary when communications are to be emailed to the community, attends city-wide FORJ meetings, communicates with the PTO Treasurer as needed to adhere to budget.

METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) liaison.

This is a low intensity position. The METCO liaison (Boston resident) works with partner METCO liaisons (Newton residents) to welcome Boston-based families when they visit the school in the Spring and serve as direct communication liaisons for all families in the METCO program. The primary goal of this board position is to strengthen ties between the METCO families and Newton-based families.  Serve as host for onsite after-school care at LE for METCO students for school events such as Back to School picnic, Concerts, Movie Night, and Family Dance Night.

SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) Liaison.

This is a medium intensity position (2 hours per month). The liaison should attend Newton SEPAC meetings and prepare blurbs for PTO weekly newsletters as necessary.  The position can be shared.

Spirit Wear Store Update

Thank you for your incredible response to our LE SpiritWear sales event. We made more than $2,000 of sales, 20% of which will go to the LE PTO so we can fund future activities. We are so grateful and we cannot wait to see everyone with their new swag!
