We have several PTO positions that we need to fill, including two board positions:

Co-President (will work closely with Theresa throughout the year)

Co-Treasurer (will be transitioned from current Treasurer, Julie)

We are also seeking volunteers for roles that have gone unfilled this year:

FORJ (Families Organizing for Racial Justice) Liaison.

This is a medium intensity position (1-2 meetings per month). The Liaison organizes FORJ meetings, oversees sub-committees’ progress, attends School FORJ events, supports subcommittees when needed, informs PTO President/Secretary when communications are to be emailed to the community, attends city-wide FORJ meetings, communicates with the PTO Treasurer as needed to adhere to budget.

METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) liaison.

This is a low intensity position. The METCO liaison (Boston resident) works with partner METCO liaisons (Newton residents) to welcome Boston-based families when they visit the school in the Spring and serve as direct communication liaisons for all families in the METCO program. The primary goal of this board position is to strengthen ties between the METCO families and Newton-based families.  Serve as host for onsite after-school care at LE for METCO students for school events such as Back to School picnic, Concerts, Movie Night, and Family Dance Night.

SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) Liaison.

This is a medium intensity position (2 hours per month). The liaison should attend Newton SEPAC meetings and prepare blurbs for PTO weekly newsletters as necessary.  The position can be shared.
