Do you notice any issues with the road, sidewalk conditions, or street signs on your way to school? If so, you can report these to the City through Newton 311 or let our Safe Routes to School representative, David Proia (dproia@gmail.com) know and he can try to solve them!

PTO Update — October 16, 2022
Hello families!
We hope you are having a wonderful October! Our Fall Festival is less than two weeks away — mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 28th, from 5-7:30pm, and please reach out to Lanni at lanni_harris@yahoo.com if you would like to help or find out more!
A reminder that we are looking for library volunteers to help shelve the books that are constantly going in and out of the school library. The more we can help, the more books our kids can take home to read! To find out more and learn how shelving works, you are invited to attend a volunteer orientation on Monday, October 17th, at 8:20am (after drop-off), in the school library. The easiest way to come in is through the library door that opens onto the courtyard off Pearl St. If you’re not sure how to find the library, wait at the Pearl St. steps and someone will come get you!
Or if you can’t make it to the orientation but are interested in volunteering, please email Tui at secretary@lepto.org!
And speaking of libraries: Lincoln-Eliot now has its very own Little Free Library!
You can find it on the corner of Jackson and Pearl St., near the benches, the flagpole, and the little bunny reading statue. Stop by any time to take a book, add a book, or just sit and read!
Special thanks to LE alum & current 7th grader Jonah Sterns for building and installing the Little Free Library as part of his mitzvah project.
(If you would like to add books, we would love that — just please make sure they are children’s books! Diverse authors and stories especially welcome!)
To find out more about Little Free Libraries, visit the organization’s website at https://littlefreelibrary.org/
Happy reading!

Pizza Wednesdays and Pre-Order Link
Thank you so much to everyone for your patience as we get a handle on pizza sales; we will be ordering extra this week so we hopefully won’t run out this time! Pre-ordering is very helpful to us for figuring out our numbers, so please take advantage of the discount and pre-order no later than Tuesday at 1pm, using this form:
https://forms.gle/2epog9n39syVJGsz6
And please note you can only pre-order a whole pizza, not individual slices! 🙂
Pizza will be for sale every Wednesday at pick up time (12:20pm) for $2 a slice (or $14 for a whole pizza). Pre-ordered whole pizzas are $12. Thank you for supporting our 5th graders!
Questions or want to help volunteer? Please reach out to us at secretary@lepto.org.
WALK – ROLL – RIDE to School Day: Wed 10.12
Please join us as we celebrate International Walk to School Day, celebrated by over 40 countries. Walking, riding, or rolling to school helps you stay active and support our environment. And don’t forget your helmet if you’re biking! Visit www.NewtonSafeRoutes.org for more information.
In preparation, is there something that keeps you or your children from walking or biking safely to your destination? Potholes, sidewalk repairs, traffic signal not working, faded or missing crosswalks, shrubs overtaking the sidewalk? Snap a photo, note the location, and submit to Newton 311: https://newtonma.mycusthelp.com/webapp. You can also call 311 at 617-796-1000 from your cell phone to report problems.
Pizza Wednesdays Are On!
We are excited to be starting up pizza sales again every Wednesday after school! Come by at pick up time (12:20pm) to purchase pizza at $2 a slice (or $14 for a whole pizza) and baked goods. Or plan ahead by ordering a full pizza (pre-orders are $12)! Thank you for supporting our 5th graders!
To pre-order your pizza, please sign up through this form no later than Tuesday at 1pm:
https://forms.gle/2epog9n39syVJGsz6
(Remember there is no school this coming Wednesday, so right now you’ll be ordering for Wednesday, October 12th!)
Questions or want to help volunteer? Please reach out to us at secretary@lepto.org.
Room Connectors Still Needed
Looking for a fun and easy way to get involved in the Lincoln-Eliot Community? Become a Room Connector! We need 1-2 Room Connectors for each classroom, and so far only the kindergarten classrooms have volunteers (hooray for our new K parents! We just need one more for Ms. Jang’s room!).
Room Connector Role:
- gather a contact list for families in your room and encourage people to sign up for the school directory (PTO board will help assist)
- collect voluntary classroom funds for holiday class gift and end of year gift
- be the point person if your teacher needs something — communication, project, etc.
- share information from PTO (a ready to go email or flyer from Parent Connector Coordinator) with your class contact list
If you would like to be a Room Connector, please email nunezemily77@gmail.com. We hope to have two Room Connectors per classroom. It is first come, first served, so don’t wait to email!
In your email, please include:
- Your full name
- Your child’s full name
- Child’s grade level
- Child’s classroom teacher
Your child and his/her teacher will be so appreciative!
Thanks!
Emily Núñez – Room Connector Coordinator
(mother of Sebastián Núñez- 5th grade & Felipe Núñez- 3rd grade)

Fall Events in Newton
Come celebrate pumpkin season with the Newton community at two upcoming family events! The first is the Harvest Fair on October 16th from 10am-5pm at the Newton Centre Green:
And the second is Newton’s annual Halloween Window Painting event on Saturday, October 29th (rain date October 30th). The event is open to all Newton students in grades 3-8; they can paint windows in any of the following six villages: Newton Centre, Newton Highlands, Auburndale, West Newton, Newtonville, and Nonantum. Kids do not have to live or go to school in the village they choose to paint in.
There’s a $10 fee to register and students must supply their own materials; for financial aid, email Lisa Rucinski at Newton Culturual Development: rucinskil@newton.k12.ma.us
We look forward to seeing you (or your windows!)! Happy fall!
Welcome Back to School!
Dear LE families,
We hope you had a fantastic and restful summer! We are thrilled to welcome our new principal, Dr. Maura Morse, and we’re looking forward to a great year!
As parents or guardians of students at Lincoln-Eliot, we are all members of the PTO. The PTO works on building community, fostering communication between parents and the school, and fundraising for school priorities such as arts and sciences programming, technology, library books, and school events.
Please save the date for our first PTO meeting of the school year on Wednesday, September 21st, at 6:30pm, for a chance to meet Principal Morse and learn more about getting involved. And please reach out to us at secretary@lepto.org if you would like to join the PTO board or if you have any questions!
Also, please make sure that your information is up to date in our school directory at lepto.membershiptoolkit.com! If you are receiving this email, you ARE in the directory — please see below for more details about logging in and updating your information (for instance, by adding your teacher).
We wish everyone a wonderful first day of school tomorrow and hope to see you at our back to school picnic on September 14th!
