Principal Update 3.18.19

Dear families,

The staff at Lincoln Eliot wanted to draw everyone’s attention to World Down Syndrome Day coming up this Thursday, March 21, 2019.

One way Down Syndrome International is bringing awareness and getting people talking about Down Syndrome is by encouraging everyone to wear “Lots of Socks.” If you have any sort of bright/colorful/long/printed socks… even 3 pairs for 3 chromosomes, please wear them on Thursday!

Also coming up soon, we’ll be having our Lincoln-Eliot Math Morning on Thursday, April 4th, from 8:20-8:50am, when you are invited to join your child’s classroom for a math activity guided by your child.  Come see the math curriculum in action!

Principal Update 3.11.19

Dear families,

It was a busy week at Lincoln-Eliot, including a very successful Community Reading Day on Friday.  Thank you to all the readers from our community who came in to share favorite books with our students, and thank you to our wonderful literacy specialist Jeanne Conley for organizing it!

We also had Kindergarten Screening Day on Tuesday — a very warm welcome to all our new families now receiving this weekly update.  We can’t wait to meet all the new students in the fall!  Please feel welcome to join us for events at the school this spring, like our PTO meeting on Tuesday, Science Night on March 28th, or International Night in June.

A reminder that parent-teacher conferences will be taking place this month; please make sure you have scheduled a conference time with your child’s teacher.

And we hope to see everyone at our PTO meeting on Tuesday at 6:30pm in the library!

Please mark your calendars:

* Tuesday, March 12th:  PTO Meeting, 6:30pm (with NPS Superintendent David Fleishman and School Committee members)
* Thursday, March 21st:  Early Release Day, 12:30pm
* Thursday, March 28th:  Family Science Night, 5-8pm
* April 15th-19th:  No School — April Vacation Week

Stay warm, and see you Monday!

PTO Meeting Tuesday, March 12th! – with Superintendent Fleishman & School Committee

Please join us this Tuesday, March 12th, from 6:30-7:30pm in the school library for our PTO meeting!  We will have special guests School Superintendent David Fleishman and members of the School Committee visiting to update us on the future of Lincoln-Eliot and answer all your questions.  Free childcare will be provided in the gym or music room.

If you cannot attend, but would like to submit a question, please email it to info@lepto.org, and we’ll make sure to ask it for you!  We are also hoping to live-stream the meeting on our Lincoln-Eliot Facebook page (for the first time, so please bear with us as we figure out the technology!) — so if we can get it to work, please feel free to watch it there as well.  🙂

Hopefully see you Tuesday!

Science Fair Project Sign-Up Deadline: March 15th!!

Our Family Science Night is coming up in just three and a half weeks — so make sure you sign up now using this form:  https://goo.gl/forms/iiggCgosqn2S6MaT2

The deadline for submission is this Friday, March 15th!  (Don’t worry if you’re still working out the details — we just need a general idea of your project!)

Students at all levels and group projects are welcome!  Past projects have included investigations/experiments (e.g. How fast do apples rot?, What do dogs remember?), models/demonstrations (e.g. the Solar System, lemon battery), research reports (e.g. Marie Curie, Snails), and collections (e.g. Slime).

Need project ideas? Try here: https://pin.it/bsp6n267fk7iuv

We can’t wait to see everyone at Science Night on Thursday, March 28th, from 5-8pm in the gym!  Incoming kindergarten families are very welcome to join us (and start thinking about ideas for next year!).  🙂

Thank You for an Awesome Game Night!

Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered and came out for Game Night on Friday!  We had a great turnout and lots of fun playing all the Gamewright games, and we raised over $700 for the school!  Thanks to everyone who purchased games for the teacher wish lists, as well; the eight teachers who submitted wish lists will all be getting at least two new games for their classrooms.  We look forward to doing this again next year!  🙂

Lincoln-Eliot Online Auction: March 18-29!

A reminder that our online auction is coming up next week, and we hope everyone will check it out!  We have a lot of exciting items and experiences to be auctioned off; thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far.  You can preview the auction here: https://www.biddingforgood.com/lepto191 to start getting ready to bid!

Donations are still being accepted and would be greatly appreciated.  Every donation makes a difference, and it all goes toward our fundraising goals for new technology and arts programs for our kids.  If you have something to donate, please email Cindy at treasurer@lepto.org.  And watch this space for the auction going live next Monday!
