Make Sure Your Incoming Kindergartner is in the Directory!

We are so looking forward to welcoming our new kindergartners in the fall!  If you are not already in our directory, please make sure you sign up by going to www.join.myschoolanywhere.com and entering the code Lincoln-Eliot.  It takes less than five minutes to sign up, and you only have to do it once; then you’re in the directory through high school!

Parents of current students who have incoming kindergartners, please sign in to your account and add your younger child now, so they can be included in summer playdate invitations and other kindergarten updates.

Being in the directory means you have access to contact information for fellow parents and teachers, a list of who else is in your class, emails about events and volunteer opportunities, and our weekly Sunday update about what’s going on at Lincoln-Eliot.

If you have any trouble registering or signing in, please email secretary@lepto.org; we’d be very happy to help!  🙂

Walk and Roll to School Day: Thursday, June 13
Celebrate summer and the end of the school year with the Lincoln-Eliot community as we promote walking, biking, rolling, taking the bus, and carpooling to school on June 13.  Scholars will receive stickers, a giveaway, and information on staying safe when traveling to school.  This is our last walk to school day of the year, and we hope you will join us to help make it our biggest and best yet!

To volunteer to help, or for more information, please contact Wendy Lennon at 617-584-0531.

The school year is quickly coming to an end!  If you want to do something special for your child’s teacher or other staff this year, consider the Newton Schools Foundation’s Honor Thy Teacher program.  Make a donation to the foundation in the name of one or more teachers.  Notifications will be sent to each teacher honored, as well as to Principals and the Superintendent.  Their names will appear in a special announcement on the NSF website and in the Newton TABLook for a flyer in your child’s backpack.  Visit our website to donate online (www.newtonschoolsfoundation.org/honor-thy-teacher) and to find out more about the programs NSF funds (http://www.newtonschoolsfoundation.org/programs-we-fund).  Your tax-deductible donation will support NSF-funded projects encompassing: art; civics; math; music; science; social and cultural studies; literature and writing instruction; and social-emotional learning.

2nd Grade CAS Program: Caterpillar Lab

This week the second graders will be visited by an amazing program from The Caterpillar Lab, bringing live caterpillars and fascinating hands-on science into the classroom.

The mission of The Caterpillar Lab is to foster greater appreciation and care for the complexity and beauty of our local natural history through live caterpillar educational programs, research initiatives, and photography and film projects.

This is one of the many programs brought to us by our Creative Arts & Sciences Committee and made possible by your donations.  The PTO is looking for more volunteers to help select and bring in programs like these for next year — if you are interested in joining the CAS Committee or helping out, please email Karen at kkhite@yahoo.com.
