Send In Your Box Tops!

This year we raised over $430 from your Box Tops submissions — and it’s not too early to start submitting more for the fall!  Please send in any Box Tops you have before the end of the school year, and then keep clipping over the summer for the fall submission.

Box Tops is going digital soon, so there will be more information to come on how we can continue to earn money for our school with a BoxTops app on our phone.

Thank you for supporting our school!

Principal Update 5.20.19

Dear families,

Thank you so much to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and supported our students for our first ever FUN RUN!  Together we raised $13,450 for Lincoln Eliot….that is amazing!!

If you’d like to learn more or have a say in how those funds will be spent next year, please join us on Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30pm in the school library for the last PTO meeting of the year, where we will be going over the budget and talking about future goals (and looking for new volunteers for an expanded PTO board).

As the nice weather is finally here, we have been reminding our scholars of our recess rules and expectations.  Please reinforce safe recess behavior at home.  We understand the importance of recess for all scholars, which is why it is not our practice to take recess away from students.  That said, there may be times when a student will be asked to miss part of their recess to discuss recess expectations.

We hope to see everyone this Thursday, May 23, for our annual International Night, featuring food, student performances, and cultural displays and presentations.  Incoming K families are very welcome to join us.  The schedule of events is as follows:

5:30pm: Multicultural Potluck

Volunteers Needed for 2019-20 School Year!

My, how the school year has flown!  The PTO is in the planning stages for next year and we need your help.  If you’re interested in getting involved or have ideas for next year, please send us a note at info@lepto.org.  We are looking for a Co-President and Co-Treasurer, as well as various committee chairs, and there are many other ways to help.  Joining the PTO board or an event committee is a great way to learn what’s going on at Lincoln-Eliot as well as the district, and it’s a great way to have an impact on your kids’ experience at L-E.  Our last PTO meeting of the year is in the school library on Tuesday, June 4 at 6:30pm, when we will be voting on our budget for the 2019-20 school year — we hope to see you there!  (Incoming K parents welcome!)

1st Grade Program: A Big Thank-You to Author Josh Funk!

This past Thursday, May 9th, our first graders were visited by the wonderful and hilarious Josh Funk, who is the author of several picture books, including the Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast series, the It’s Not a Fairy Tale series, Pirasaurs, How to Code a Sandcastle, Dear Dragon, and many others.

The presentation was a funny, engaging look at how books are made and the process of developing characters — ask your first grader what character they came up with, or which teacher played Little Red in the readers’ theater!  We all send a big thank you to Josh, and we highly recommend checking out his books!

5th Grade CAS Program: Historic Newton

This coming Wednesday, May 15th, Historic Newton is bringing their “Conflict in the Colonies” program to our 5th grade classrooms.  Students will explore events leading up to the Revolutionary War from the point of view of a Massachusetts family.  They will review artifacts, “meet” their neighbors and participate in a town hall meeting.  This is one of the Creative Arts and Sciences programs made possible by your donations to the PTO.  Thank you for all your support!
