Learn More About the PTO! Open House April 7th

Are you interested in getting more involved in the PTO but aren’t sure how?  Curious about what the board does and how everything is organized?  If you’re interested in the future of the Lincoln-Eliot PTO and want to know more, please join us for an open house on Sunday, April 7th!  We are looking to fill positions for next year including Co-Presidents and Co-Treasurer and we can’t do it without your help!  Stop by anytime between 3-5:30pm at 115 Waban Street (across Pearl St from L-E) and talk to current parent leaders about how you can lend a hand — any level of participation is welcome and appreciated!  🙂

Can’t make it but still interested?  Please email Karen at kkhite@yahoo.com or Tui at secretary@lepto.org.

Food Services at Newton Schools

On March 28, the working group who is in charge of hiring the new food services management company for Newton schools will be interviewing representatives from Sodexo and Whitens (the two companies that sent proposals) in order to determine which vendor we will be moving forward with once the current contract with Sodexo expires later this year.

While the interview is not open to the public, parents/students/staff are welcome to share their input at this link and write in their questions.

Principal Update 3.18.19

Dear families,

The staff at Lincoln Eliot wanted to draw everyone’s attention to World Down Syndrome Day coming up this Thursday, March 21, 2019.

One way Down Syndrome International is bringing awareness and getting people talking about Down Syndrome is by encouraging everyone to wear “Lots of Socks.” If you have any sort of bright/colorful/long/printed socks… even 3 pairs for 3 chromosomes, please wear them on Thursday!

Principal Update 3.11.19

Dear families,

It was a busy week at Lincoln-Eliot, including a very successful Community Reading Day on Friday.  Thank you to all the readers from our community who came in to share favorite books with our students, and thank you to our wonderful literacy specialist Jeanne Conley for organizing it!

We also had Kindergarten Screening Day on Tuesday — a very warm welcome to all our new families now receiving this weekly update.  We can’t wait to meet all the new students in the fall!  Please feel welcome to join us for events at the school this spring, like our PTO meeting on Tuesday, Science Night on March 28th, or International Night in June.

A reminder that parent-teacher conferences will be taking place this month; please make sure you have scheduled a conference time with your child’s teacher.

And we hope to see everyone at our PTO meeting on Tuesday at 6:30pm in the library!

Please mark your calendars:

* Tuesday, March 12th:  PTO Meeting, 6:30pm (with NPS Superintendent David Fleishman and School Committee members)
* Thursday, March 21st:  Early Release Day, 12:30pm
* Thursday, March 28th:  Family Science Night, 5-8pm
* April 15th-19th:  No School — April Vacation Week

Stay warm, and see you Monday!

PTO Meeting Tuesday, March 12th! – with Superintendent Fleishman & School Committee

Please join us this Tuesday, March 12th, from 6:30-7:30pm in the school library for our PTO meeting!  We will have special guests School Superintendent David Fleishman and members of the School Committee visiting to update us on the future of Lincoln-Eliot and answer all your questions.  Free childcare will be provided in the gym or music room.

If you cannot attend, but would like to submit a question, please email it to info@lepto.org, and we’ll make sure to ask it for you!  We are also hoping to live-stream the meeting on our Lincoln-Eliot Facebook page (for the first time, so please bear with us as we figure out the technology!) — so if we can get it to work, please feel free to watch it there as well.  🙂

Hopefully see you Tuesday!
