Thank you so much to everyone who supported our Valentine’s Day flower fundraiser, and especially to Emily Nunez and Natalie Hereford for organizing and creating the beautiful bouquets!  It was a great success and raised over $500, which will go toward our Creative Arts and Sciences programs and technology for the school.  Many thanks also to the Franklin PTO for their help with this project!  🙂

Registration for the 2019 Newton Little League Spring Season is now available on the league’s website: www.newtonllbaseball.org  

Newton Little League serves players who reside within or attend private or public schools within the boundaries of Ward, Underwood, Lincoln-Eliot, Horace Mann, Peirce, Cabot, Burr, Franklin, and Williams elementary schools, and provides programs for players ages 4 through 12.

Programs for younger players are based on school grade, and teams are put together based on elementary school and friend requests: T-Ball (Pre-K), Rookie (Kindergarten), Farm (grade 1), and Single A (grade 2).

In our programs for older players, teams are put together with more of a focus on competitive balance: AA (grades 3-4), AAA (grades 4-6), and Majors (ages 10-12).

There is also a Challenger division for students with special needs who wish to enjoy the game of baseball.

Dear families,

Our lost and found is full of many items that students should take home! In order to help students and families claim these lost items, they will be laid out in the cafeteria on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 and Friday, February 15, 2019 from 8:20am-11:30am. Teachers will send students down to the cafeteria to look for lost items. Parents are also welcome to come and look for something they know is lost. Please stop by the cafeteria when you drop your child off at school. Any unclaimed items will be donated on Friday, 2/15/19, after school.

We had a great turnout for walk, bike and roll day despite the weather. Thank you for participating!

Our poet-in-residence, Andy Green, from Potato Hill Poetry, will be back this week visiting our students in 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade. This Creative Arts & Sciences program is made possible because of your donations and support!

Newton FORJ (Families Organizing for Racial Justice) will meet on Tuesday, February 12th from 7pm-9pm at Angier Elementary.

Join us for an interactive evening with Madeline McNeely, founder of Conditioning Leaders (and parent of a recent L-E graduate!).  She is a facilitator, trainer, coach and consultant who will share with us practices gleaned from her most popular trainings on good group leadership practices to ensure your FORJ team is operating at its best.  This is a special opportunity for your FORJ team to reflect on your experiences and learn helpful tools for sustainability and success!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 3rd annual Family Movie Night on Friday. Fun was had by all! We had a terrific turnout and had our most successful movie night yet, with over $900 raised for our school. This money will help support our goals this year including technology upgrades and Creative Arts & Sciences programming. Thank you to all our volunteers, especially Kwok and Heather Yu and Natalie Hereford who helped plan this special event.
