Game Night THIS FRIDAY, March 6th! — Volunteers Needed!

Join us for a fun family night of board games and pizza this Friday, March 6th, from 6-8pm as we host our second Lincoln-Eliot Family Game Night!

Admission is $10 per family at the door — but if you sign up to volunteer for half an hour, your family gets in free!  We’d really love your help to set up, clean up, or man the pizza table or the game sales — please click here to volunteer!  (Donations of water, seltzer, and baked goods also needed!)

Pizza, drinks, and baked goods will be for sale in the cafeteria.  All the games will also be for sale at the event, with 50% of the proceeds going to support our school!

Last Call for Auction Donations!

The deadline for donating to our LE PTO online auction has been extended to Monday, February 17th!  Which means there’s still a chance to send in your delivery donations or hosting donations — here are some of the great offerings we’ve received so far:

– private yoga lessons
– a commissioned piece of artwork
– hand-decorated cupcakes
– belly dancing class
– movie outing at West Newton Cinema
– Israeli brunch delivered to the winner
– quilted baby blanket
– German language lessons
– hand-painted silk scarves
– pizza and movie playdate
– 3-layer carrot cake
– homemade ice cream delivery
– homemade tiramisu

As a reminder, possible delivery donation ideas could be:
• Gifting a meal – this could be a homemade dish you are famous for, or a traditional meal that you love to make
• Cake delivery – make your best cake and give to the highest bidder
• Wine delivery – gift your favorite bottles of wine to the winner
• Handmade items – if you have a hobby like knitting or pottery, let us auction off one of your pieces!
• Special talents – Rubik’s cube lessons, flower arranging, tax help, language lessons, dog-walking.  You name it!

And for hosting donations, you decide the number of guests, and bidders purchase a spot at your gathering.  Please note, these spots are only open to the children in your child’s class or grade — you may specify.  You are donating your time by organizing and providing the materials and space for the event.

Feel free to be creative, but some ideas include:
• Hosting a playdate for 3-5 classmates with a theme – crafts, cooking, science, outdoors, etc.
• Host a movie or video game night at your house with popcorn
• Hosting a parents’ or moms’ night out with drinks and appetizers at your house

Please email your Room Connector or president@lepto.org with the details of your donation.  (Please be as descriptive as possible in any food-based donations to keep in mind the buyers who may have allergy and dietary restrictions.)  Thank you so much for your help and support for our school!  Our online auction will begin on March 23rd — keep an eye out for the link in this newsletter and on www.lepto.org!

Save the Date: Game Night March 6th!

Mark your calendars for our upcoming Lincoln-Eliot Game Night on Friday, March 6th, from 6-8pm!  We will be partnering with Newton-based game company Gamewright to provide a wide selection of games to play (preview all their games here).

Incoming kindergarten families welcome — come introduce your child to their new school and make some new friends!

Please contact secretary@lepto.org if you’re interested in helping with the event.  We hope to see you there!

Reminder: Online Auction Donations Still Needed

Thank you to everyone who’s responded about our upcoming online auction — don’t forget that the deadline to submit your donation idea is February 14th!

Our online auction will begin on March 23rd and this year, we are hoping that each classroom can donate some “delivery donations” as well as some “hosting donations.”

Delivery donation ideas could be:
• Gifting a meal – this could be a homemade dish you are famous for, or a traditional meal that you love to make
• Cake delivery – make your best cake and give to the highest bidder
• Wine delivery – gift your favorite bottles of wine to the winner
• Handmade items – if you have a hobby like knitting or pottery, let us auction off one of your pieces!
• Special talents – Rubik’s cube lessons, flower arranging, tax help, language lessons, dog-walking.  You name it!

Hosting donations work a little differently.  You decide the number of guests, and bidders purchase a spot at your gathering.

(Please be as descriptive as possible in any food-based donations to keep in mind the buyers who may have allergy and dietary restrictions.)  The deadline to submit is February 14th.  We will follow up with you after that date to confirm the details as we get closer to the auction.

Thank you for your consideration — we appreciate your help in raising money for the school and bringing our community closer together at the same time!

Book Fair Volunteers & Donations

Thank you to those of you who’ve reached out to volunteer for the Book Fair next week!  Please click here if you’d like to join us — we especially need volunteers for the setup on Friday morning (Dec. 6th) and the evening event Thursday night (Dec. 12th).

This year we also have an Amazon wish list for items that would help us make the fair (and especially Book Character Day) a success — if you don’t have time to volunteer, this is another way to support the fair that we’d be very grateful for!

Thank you so much!  We appreciate your help!

Lincoln-Eliot Book Fair: December 9-12!

We are looking forward to the Lincoln-Eliot Book Fair, which will be in our library and celebrating reading from December 9th – 12th this year!

The fair will be open for shopping before and after school each day, and we will be having our Books and Cookies Pajama Party on Thursday, December 12th from 5-8pm — please join us for free cookies and cocoa in the cafeteria and have fun shopping the fair!

This year our Book Character Day will be Wednesday, December 11th, when everyone is invited to come to school in costume as a character from a book!  Who will you be?  Start brainstorming your costume now…and if you need any ideas, check out our Costume Ideas & Suggestions!

We would love your help anytime during the fair; please click here to volunteer!  Or if you can’t volunteer, but would like to help in another way, we also have an Amazon Wish List for book fair donations (including items for our costume basket).  And stay tuned for more information about our online fair (running Dec. 4 – 17) (this year they’ll ship straight to your house!) and teacher wish lists for the classroom libraries.

Happy reading!  See you at the fair!

Election Day Bake Sale Tuesday – Baked Goods and Volunteers Needed!

This Tuesday, November 5th, is Election Day, and we’d love your help to run another successful Election Day Bake Sale!  Please sign up here to bring baked goods or volunteer for a shift at the table.

Muffins and mini-breads and scones would be welcome for the breakfast crowd, as well as sweet treats like cupcakes and cookies for the later voters.  Allergy-friendly items are always great – please label or note anything that’s nut-free or gluten-free!

You can drop off your baked goods at the Jackson Rd. entrance on Tuesday morning or in the main office on Monday afternoon.  Thank you so much for your help!
