- We will be offering BOK Kids Morning Program (7:30-8:20) Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Gym. The cost is $50 for the 8-week session. Last year’s teacher Ashley Finnegan will be running the program! Flyers went home this week. If interested sign up. Space is limited to the first 20 students.

• New Free Toddler Program at Sunday School for Jewish Studies Starting October 19, 2014
This fall, the Sunday School for Jewish Studies (SSJS) welcomes 2-and-3-year-olds and their
parents to a celebration of Judaism through creative arts and play. Please come and join the fun! Our first Toddler program date is Sunday, October 19th. This free, family program will be held on five Sundays during the Hebrew school year from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the Oak Hill Middle School in Newton, MA. The Toddler program will be brimming with activities including puppetry, Hebrew and English sing-a-longs with guitar accompaniment, story telling with props, art activities, and movement. You and your Toddler will experience first hand the joys of learning about Jewish holidays and events in a delightful, memorable fashion.
SSJS teacher Mindy Elins will lead this innovative program. Mindy is an award winning Jewish early childhood educator and has enchanted thousands of children with the beauty and wisdom of Jewish values and holidays. Mindy holds a Master’s Degree in Expressive Therapies, an Early Childhood Certification from Hebrew College and is a graduate of the DeLeT program of Brandeis University. • Registration Open for 3rd Annual Family Book Event with Author Rob Buyea Understanding Our Differences will hold its 3rd Annual Family Book Event on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Newton South High School Auditorium. The featured author is Rob Buyea, who will talk about and sign his popular, award-winning middle grade novel, Because of Mr. Terupt. • The Asian Cultural Festival will be held on Saturday October 11, 2014 (Columbus Day weekend) between noon and 5pm at Newton City Hall,1000 Commonwealth Ave. From noon to 2:30pm, Asian communities and organizations with Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Southeast Asian heritage will present children’s activities and games, exhibitions and workshops for both

• Newton Theatre Company announces open auditions for Moliere’s “The Imaginary Invalid”
The Newton Theatre Company, resident at the Newton Cultural Center at City Hall announces open auditions for Moliere’s ”The Imaginary Invalid”, a hilarious 17th century comedy about a hypochondriac and his plan to marry off his daughter, Angelique, to an imbecile doctor-in- training. Angelique is in love with someone else; the hypochondriac’s second wife is scheming against him; and charlatan medical professionals come and go. Keeping her wits about her, while poking good fun at her employer, is Toinette, the saucy maid who rights all wrongs by the end of the play.
Auditions will be held Tuesday, October 21 from 6-8:00pm at the Newton Cultural Center at City Hall. Rehearsals will be Sunday afternoons January through April. Actors must be free most Sundays during a two-hour time slot: 12-2pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm. Performance will be Saturday, May 2 at 2:00pm.
