Our annual Lincoln-Eliot Family Science Night is going to look a little different this year, but our committee is hard at work planning for a fun online celebration of our young scientists. Start brainstorming now and mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 14th, and Thursday, April 15th! More information will be coming soon about how to participate — if you’re interested in helping the committee, or if you’re a scientist willing to talk to a group of kids about your job, please reach out to us at president@lepto.org!

Wednesday Lunch Bunch / Zoom Socials for January
It was really great to see all the kids who joined us for our book fair storytime socials, and we’d love to keep that going with lunch bunch / social snacktimes to connect our DLA and hybrid kids! Based on the survey that went out, the best time for most people is Wednesday lunch, so we’re going to set up some Zooms for 1pm on Wednesdays in January and February, and see how they go!
In order to run any of these, though, we need at least one parent chaperone — so if you’re available and willing to volunteer, we’d appreciate it so much! Please visit our SignUp Genius to choose a grade & time slot:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E44ABA72EA2FD0-lincolneliot3
We’ll provide a Zoom link from our PTO account, so you just have to sign in and keep an eye on the kids. You can decide the length — the slots are an hour long, but if you’d like to make it a half-hour chat, or whatever amount of time works for you, that’s OK, too! If you’d like to read to them or organize a game, that would be great — but it’s also fine to sit nearby and let them chat; we just need to make sure there’s an adult presence.
Please email Elizabeth or Tui at secretary@lepto.org anytime with any questions, and thank you so much for your help!
Join Us for Virtual Trivia Night: Jan. 22nd!
Mark your calendars: We will be having our first ever Lincoln-Eliot Virtual Trivia Night on Friday, January 22, at 7pm, and we’d love to see you there! It should be a really fun night and a chance to see friends we haven’t seen in a while, at least virtually.
The format will be Stump! Trivia (https://www.sporcle.com/blog/
Please RSVP here so you can be emailed the Zoom link before the event:
Hopefully see you there!
Last Day for Online Book Fair!
Today (Sunday, December 20th) is the last day to shop our online book fair and have 30% of the profits go back to Lincoln-Eliot — if you haven’t had a chance to check it out, here’s the link!:
https://www.childrensbookstore.com/welcome/lincoln-eliot-elementary-school/
After today, we’ll get 15% instead, but you can still shop the online fair — so please feel free to bookmark the link and keep checking back for books you need, or to buy books for our wonderful teachers!
Thank you so much to everyone who’s purchased books and everyone who came to the Zoom storytimes, plus our awesome storytime readers! We hope you have a safe, cozy, joyful winter break — happy reading, everyone! 🙂
Online Book Fair & Teacher Wishlists
There’s one more week to shop our online book fair and have 30% of the proceeds go to our support our school!
https://www.childrensbookstore.com/welcome/lincoln-eliot-elementary-school/
We’d especially love for you to check out our teachers’ wishlists and, if you can, send some extra appreciation their way in this challenging year. You can find links to their wish lists right below the green intro text box on the site. We recommend choosing the school’s address to ship to, under the teacher’s name.
(And if you’re looking for more book recommendations, our new librarian, Ms. Selwyn, has some great ones on our school library website:
https://elemlibraries.newton.k12.ma.us/lincoln_eliot_library)
Please email Tui at secretary@lepto.org if you have any questions! Thank you for supporting our school, and happy reading!
LE Online Book Fair — Dec. 6-20!
Although we can’t have our usual in-school book fair this year (and we really miss you all!), we still wanted to celebrate reading and support our school library — so we have set up an online book fair through Children’s Book Store, and we’d love for everyone to visit our site!:
https://www.childrensbookstore.com/welcome/lincoln-eliot-elementary-school/
Make sure you check out the teacher and library wish lists — they’re right below the intro text. (Clicking on “Wishlists” at the top will take you to a page to make your own wishlist — which you can do and send to friends and family, if you like!). Also, if you scroll down the main site, you can find a book list of Principal Morrissey’s favorites and lists of recommendations from our wonderful new librarian, Ms. Selwyn!
All purchases will be shipped directly to your home, and for the next two weeks, 30% of the profit will go to our school. (You can also continue shopping all year long; the rest of the year we get 15%!) Children’s Book Store recommends shopping early and choosing “UPS” at checkout if you hope to receive your books by Christmas, but as with all shipping this year, they can’t make any guarantees. But books are wonderful to get no matter when, right?
If you need some suggestions (or would like to share your favorite books!), don’t forget we have our L-E book recommendation Padlets:
And keep your eyes on your inbox for an invitation to a Zoom storytime hangout in the next couple of weeks!
Please let us know (at secretary@lepto.org) if you have any questions! Happy reading!
Fall Festival Flipgrid & Scavenger Hunt
Even with the weather conspiring against us, we still had a really fun fall festival week — we’re so impressed with all the amazing mini pumpkins that appeared in the display! Yay for all our awesome kids! If you didn’t have a chance to pick yours up again on Friday, we’ve left the rest on a table in the overhang so you can still get them on Monday.
Also, if your child didn’t get one of the gift bags, we have plenty left over — just email us at secretary@lepto.org and we’d be very happy to help figure out how to get it to you!
Flipgrid:
We adore all the videos that have been posted on our Fall Festival Flipgrid! Thank you so much to everyone who has participated so far — we encourage everyone to check it out, and feel free to keep posting videos this week!
The Flipgrid website is: https://flipgrid.com/605f8702 — click “sign in with Google” and sign in using an NPS student gmail login in order to view or post!
Scavenger Hunt:
If you haven’t had a chance to try out our Fall Festival scavenger hunt or enter the raffle, there’s still time!
Find the scavenger hunt form here: https://forms.gle/KiGAEYhQh8MLYFSv9
Because of the weather, we’ve extended the raffle deadline to Monday, November 9th — fill out the form by then and be entered to win a $50 online gift card to a local bookstore! Remember you don’t have to get the answers right to win, and even if you can’t do the hunt, you can still enter your email address to participate in the raffle.
Thank you all again for your support and participation! We miss you and hope you’re all doing well . . . if you have any ideas for more socially distanced community events, we’d love to hear them anytime! (Or please bring them to our next PTO meeting!)
